Curfew imposed in Jalandhar following widespread violence

The district administration on Sunday as a preventive measure imposed curfew in certain parts of Jalandhar city in Punjab following wide spread violence by members of one community in protest against reported killing of Sant Rama Nand of the Guru Ravi Dass Gurudwara in Ballan village in this district during a shoot out in Guru Ravidass Gurdwara at Vianna in Austria.
Tension gripped the city as soon as news regarding firing on Sant Niranjan Dass, Head of Dera Sachkhand Ballan, and his supporters in Vienna, Austria reached Jalandhar. Sant Rama Nand accompanied Sant Niranjan Dass. Both were seriousl;y injured in the attack.
It is learnt that Sant Rama Nand along with his some followers had gone to Vienna in Austria to take part in a religious function where he and his followers were assaulted by a group of xxxxx armed with firearms and swords. The reason of clash between both the groups is stated to be the presentation of Siropas to the Sant and his followers.
Followers of Dera Sachkhand and various Dalit bodies today blocked traffic on the national highway here, damaged three buses and torched a vehicle soon after news regarding firing on Sant Niranjan Dass, the Dera head, in Vienna, Austria spread.Activists of various Dalit bodies, including Ambedkar Sena and BSP, blocked vehicular traffic in Phagwara for nearly an hour on National Highway No 1 on the over-bridge near Sugar Mill crossing to protest the Vienna incident, police said.Some of the protesters pelted stones at vehicles, damaging three buses, they said, adding no passenger was injured in the incident.Protesters also gave a call for Phagwara bandh tomorrow.In Buta Mandi locality, followers of the sect torched a truck parked in the area, police said.Senior Superintendent of Police R K Jaiswal said policemen have been deployed at sensitive points to check any untoward incident.At least 11 people were injured, nine of them seriously when two groups of xxxx worshippers clashed with knives and handgun at a gurdwara in Vienna today, Vienna police said.The fight erupted following a dispute over the sermon given by a priest from Shri Guru Ravidas Sabha.At least six men, one wielding a gun and the others knives, attacked the preacher and others
